Another Day Like That

A long gone day has just
Brushed its tail
Along the outside of my window
In a darkness that seems
And shocking,
And I thought I saw
Something like a sunset
Hunched-over, the under-cover
Spy of all elusive summer noons.
I wept today
For the silence I keep
In the dandelion coin vault,
Imagining that it may never
Scream again
In quite the melancholy anguish
I’ve always wanted it to.
